Just two years ago, Katy Barnard became one of our Household Waste Recycling Centre Supervisors.
This was her first experience in the waste management industry, but she excelled in the role, so much so that she has now been put on Cumbria Waste Group’s management training scheme.
As part of her development she has been given a newly-created position as a Technical Assistant.
This is a wide-ranging role which involves her providing support to managers, supervisors and staff across the business, including HWRCs, material recycling facilities, landfill sites and our quarrying operations.
Katy, aged 23, will also soon be undertaking a degree in business management to further support her development.
She says: “I have enjoyed my first two years working at Cumbria Waste Group and have learned a lot, so I jumped at the opportunity to join the management training scheme.
“I started in May but have already taken on lots of different roles which have given me an even greater insight into the business.
“I am looking forward to learning more and my ultimate goal is to become a manager within the Group.”Back
