Coniston 14 race success

March 28th, 2018

The annual Coniston 14 road race took place on Saturday, 24 March and it proved to be a great success with 1060 runners participating on the day. The route of approximately 14 miles takes in the breath-taking views surrounding Coniston water and is organised by a committee of volunteers from Coniston village. The race raises money for local charities with over £20,000 being raised each year.

Cumbria Waste were delighted once again to be able to assist the event by providing wheelie bins to aid with the clear up process. The event chooses not to provide water in plastic bottles due to lasting effect the bottles and lids littering the countryside could have on the environment, local wildlife and farm animals.

Pam Kirkbride, one of the volunteers involved in the event sent us her thanks and commented on how being able to have the bins at each of the water stations helped them significantly whilst clearing up after the race.

We hope all the runners thoroughly enjoyed the race and we wish the organisers every success for future events.
