Christmas tree collection appeal a huge success

January 11th, 2019

For the 3rd year in a row, Cumbria Waste Group has supported the Christmas Tree Collection Appeal that is organised by Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland.

The initiative sees the charity partner with local businesses to take away the burden of getting rid of Christmas trees for a small donation. There were a  number of local businesses involved in the collection and disposal process that took place on Monday, 07 January 2019.

Julie Blundell, Head of Income Generation and Marketing for Hospice at Home said,

We couldn’t do this initiative without the support of local businesses; their commitment is crucial to the success of this unique appeal in Northern Cumbria. This year we have collected almost 900 trees across various locations including the city and many surrounding villages of Carlisle and also the towns and villages around Longtown, Brampton, Wigton, Silloth, Penrith and Keswick.

I am thrilled to announce that approximately £8,500 has been donated. This is a tremendous fundraising total and we’re thankful to all those who have volunteers and generously supported the Charity. The funds raised will help provide end of life care within the home to local patients, families and carers. We look forward to the 2020 appeal which is set to be the biggest yet.
