Safety, Health & Environment

Personnel

Our Health and Safety culture involves all our staff and directors and we engage them via employee site audits and Health and Safety committees.

We have an honest and open relationship with our employee trade unions and welcome their ideas and participation.

We seek to develop and maintain a positive and pro-active Health & Safety culture from our Board of Directors to site level. We provide and maintain our plant, equipment and vehicles in safe working condition.

The CWM Group is accredited to the Environmental Standard ISO14001.

Community

We take our relationships with local communities very seriously too.

We issue open invitations to residents and councillors to visit our sites and take part in liason groups, to listen to local people and respond to their needs. We also give them priority access to landfill tax donations through our Environmental Trust.

We are acutely aware of our impact on the global environment & seek to minimise the potential negative impacts of our activities on the local environmental and communities.

We have generated electricity from landfill gas since our company was created in 1993.

In 1996 we began recycling industrial, commercial and domestic waste and are now the leading recycling operator in Cumbria.

Responsibilities

At CWM Group we take our responsibilities to people and the environment very seriously.

We employ specialist health and safety and environmental managers to check that what we do meets the highest standards.

We have developed management systems, policies and working practices that help to keep the negative environmental impacts arising from our activities to a minimum.
