Not everyone needs a permit to use the recycling facility. Cumbrian residents wishing to use a recycling centre in a normal 4-wheel car will not need a permit, even with a trailer (provided it is less 3m and has a single axle). Please note: vehicles with more than four wheels or with tipping mechanisms are not permitted at any of the HWRC sites.

Disposing of Plasterboard and Gypsum? New Legislation

New legislation governing the disposal of plasterboard and gypsum was introduced in March 2009
preventing them from being landfilled. To dispose of these materials - please separate them from your other waste, and take them to one of the following HWRC sites for recycling.
